My Portugal Part 2: Must-Sees

One of my favourite places in Portugal that I find surreally beautiful and magical is Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra - an estate classified as a World Heritage Site. Here is how Wikipedia describes it: "The property consists of a romantic palace and chapel, and a luxurious park that features lakes, grottoes, wells, benches, fountains, and a vast array of exquisite constructions. The palace is also known as "The Palace of Monteiro the Millionaire", which is based on the nickname of its best known former owner, Antonio Augusto Carvalho Monteiro."  You can easily spend a whole day wandering around its huge territory, and kids will surely have a ball there.

I am a big lover of aquariums-oceanariums and the one in Lisbon is very impressive.

And another one of my favourite places in Portugal is Bacalhoa Budda Eden in Bombarral  - an "Asian peace garden with sculptures, lakes, pagodas, giant Buddha & terracotta soldiers."
A ticket is only a fiver and you can easily spend a day there wandering around the gardens, marvelling at giant metal statues of animals, watching big fish in the lake, discovering Chinese pagodas and numerous statues of Budda, you can have a snack or a meal in one of the cafes on the territory or bring your own picnic. And at the exit you will go through the regional wine shop and choose from a wide selection of both very expensive and affordable wines.
